Cynae Carter is from Fishers, Indiana but has resided in Lexington for the last 16 years in which she now calls home.
She obtained Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Social work from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville.
She is a Licensed Clinical Social worker currently pursuing a Doctorate in Social Work degree from the University of Kentucky.
She has worked in partnerships within Kentucky’s child welfare systems, specifically with advocating and serving the aging out population.
She has worked in partnership with FCPS previously in assisting student support staff access resources for families in need as well as providing mentoring programming for students and joined the FCPS district Student Support team in 2021.
Her passion is to work with African American communities and help reduce stigma and increase access to mental health services while educating clinician and preparing future social workers in addressing mental health in African American communities.
