Jessica Byrd is a licensed clinical social worker and holds a temporary certified alcohol and drug counselor license.
Jessica is currently the team leader at a rural community mental health center clinic.
In addition to her supervisory duties, Jessica provides mental health and substance use treatment to children, adolescents, and adults.
Jessica is also an adjunct instructor with the University of Kentucky College of Social Work.
Jessica is a member of the inaugural doctoral of social work class with an expected graduation date of May 7, 2022.
As a full-time doctoral student, Jessica has served as interim secretary and is the current Vice President of the DSW Student Community.
Jessica was also the recipient of the Beaven-Eidetik Doctoral Research Fellowship scholarship.
Additionally, Jessica authored "Consent Is A Verb," published in the New Social Worker magazine.
Jessica is passionate about supporting social workers as they provide essential services through advocating for the use of self-care.
She has spent the last two years researching and developing the concept of autonomous self-care to encourage organizational support of self-care practices in the workplace.
