Ashley Amber Berry

My name is Ashley Berry and I am a co-owner of Counseling Connections in Owensboro, KY. At Counseling Connections we strive to provide an array of services, including mental health, substance abuse, and behavioral treatments while working with clients of all ages. I am an LCSW with nearly 10 years of clinical experience and an extensive background working in the child welfare system and in a school setting.

My passion of working with children and their families stems from my history of employment in child welfare. This passion led me back to the classroom to obtain my doctoral degree is the field of Social Work. I am currently in my final semester of the DSW program at the University of Kentucky. I have dedicated my time during this program to continue to build upon my passion of working with children and families. My research has been centered on beneficial therapeutic treatment for children who are involved in the high-conflict divorce of their parents. While I have found that there is limited research completed on working with these children, specifically when the parents are resistant to change or their own treatment, I have proposed a method using Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy within a framework of empowerment perspective through a trauma-centered lens.

My future plans include continuing the growth of my private practice that currently employs 10 therapist and 2 case managers. I want to ensure that we are able to serve all in the community that are in need of these services while providing them with adequate and beneficial treatment.
